This year, the rare and powerful conjunction of Somvati Amavasya falling on a Monday brings a divine opportunity to express our gratitude to our ancestors.
As per ancient scriptures, especially the Shiv Mahapuran (Section 28, Shloka 8), the impact of Annadan Seva on this day is immense—each grain offered with devotion ensures that our Pitra Devtas (ancestors) reside in heavenly realms for thousands of years.
On this auspicious day, it is believed that all Pitra Devtas descend to the holy city of Kashi (Avimukta Kshetra), eagerly awaiting offerings from their descendants. This is not just a tradition; it is our sacred duty to honor them with love, through Annadan (sacred food donation) and spiritual rituals.
Pitra Dosh Nivaran: Offering Annadan helps alleviate the negative effects of Pitra Dosh, bringing peace to your ancestors' souls and creating harmony in your family.
Divine Blessings: Devotional offerings on this sacred day ensure blessings from both your ancestors and Lord Shiva, leading to prosperity, health, and peace for you and your loved ones.
Spiritual Upliftment: By performing this Seva, you strengthen your connection with the divine and receive positive energy that aids in personal growth, spiritual awakening, and overall well-being.
Generational Blessings: It is believed that the blessings received through this Annadan will positively affect your lineage, bringing fortune, peace, and protection for generations to come.
Peace of Mind: Engaging in this noble act brings inner peace and satisfaction, knowing that your efforts are uplifting souls and fulfilling an essential family duty.

To Devi and Devtas, everyone worships in common but it is our individual responsibility to worship our Pitra Devtas, whose blessing removes all Hurdles from our Life.
Kashi is very significant for our Pitra Devtas, performing pitra puja rituals in Kashi is ‘Mokshaprad’ i.e salvation giving.
Performing Annadan seva in Kashi, removes all Pitra Dosh and Daridrta from the lives of the devotees.
Somvati Amavasya is the new moon day (Amavasya) that falls on a Monday (Somvar). The conjunction of Chandra (Moon) and Somvar, the day dedicated to Lord Shiva, makes it an ideal time for spiritual purification, Pitra Shanti (ancestral peace), and divine blessings.
Monday is dedicated to Lord Shiva, the deity who liberates souls. On Amavasya, when Pitra Devtas are believed to descend to earth, the combination brings a rare opportunity to appease ancestors and seek Shiva’s moksha-giving blessings.
Annadan Seva means donating food with devotion. On Somvati Amavasya, especially in Kashi (Avimukta Kshetra), Annadan is considered the highest form of service. It is said that offering food to the needy and saints on this day pleases both ancestors and Lord Shiva, removing Pitra Dosh and bringing blessings to the entire lineage.
Removal of Pitra Dosh (ancestral karmic burden) Blessings of ancestors and Lord Shiva Prosperity, peace, and harmony in family life Protection and divine grace for future generations Spiritual upliftment and inner peace
The Annadan Seva will take place in the sacred city of Kashi (Varanasi), specifically in areas recognized as Avimukta Kshetra, where it is believed the Pitra Devtas descend during Somvati Amavasya to receive offerings.
